Opportunity for Students: Help Make News Better
CivicStory's News Challenge Starts Sep. 17!
Are your go-to daily news outlets missing topics that are important to you?
Are you willing to help news editors focus on essential stories?
CivicStory's 2020 News Challenge needs You!
CivicStory, a solutions-based news site focused on civics and sustainability, is inviting students to watch and review a 'legacy' news outlet beginning on Sep. 17. Estimated time required is 3 hours total.
You'll select - or be assigned - a news broadcast or newspaper. You'll then view 3 programs or issues during the week. For a newspaper, you'll read the digital version and analyze editors' choices and layout. By Sep 25, you'll draft a letter to your outlet's producer/editor, sharing thoughts about their product. CivicStory will help edit if needed; with your permission, you may be interviewed for a blog-post.
This is a nonpartisan, constructive project that connects students to news editors for mutual benefit.
Please introduce yourself by a short email to Kim at KT15@princeton.edu. Let us know what you're studying, why you're interested in the CivicStory News Challenge, and what you hope to change. The challenge starts on September 17, and we look forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you, and stay well!
